Province reports 111 new COVID cases again today

There are now 1,366 active cases of COVID-19 in the province

For the second day in a row, and the third day this week, Ontario has reported 111 new COVID-19 cases. 

It's the same number of new cases reported on July 14 and 16. 

Today's testing numbers are the highest of the three days with 31,163 tests completed since the last Public Health Ontario report. 

Of the 111 new cases reported today, 53 people are between the ages of 20 and 39 and 35 people are between the ages of 40 and 59. 

Toronto Public Health reported 38 new cases today, and Windsor-Essex County reported 21 new cases. Durham region reported 11 cases and the remaining health units in the province reported between zero and nine new cases today. 

There were nine new deaths confirmed in Ontario today, including five people between 60 and 79 and four people over the age of 80. One of the deaths reported today was an individual living at a long-term care home. 

Public Health Ontario has reported 37,274 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 since January, and has indicated 89 per cent of those cases (33,162) are now recovered. The province has reported 2,746 deaths (7.4 per cent of all cases), and of those 1,732 have been residents in long-term care homes. 

There are now 1,366 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 108 people are hospitalized with the virus. There are 30 patients in intensive care and 21 patients on ventilators in hospitals in Ontario. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 619 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region to date, with 588 of those reported in Simcoe County.

Thirty-six people have died and the health unit has reported 561 recoveries. The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 103.6 cases per 100,000 people in the population. 

There are 21 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County including three people hospitalized, according to the health unit's July 16 epidemiological report. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit will enter Stage 3 of the province's reopening plan tomorrow. An order from the region's medical officer of health requires everyone entering or remaining in indoor public spaces in Simcoe County and Muskoka District to wear a fabric face covering that covers the nose, mouth and chin.
