Proceeds from Cookstown car show donated to RVH Cancer Centre

The inaugural Cookstown Cancer Classic Car and Truck Show raised $6,585 for the RVH Simcoe Muskoka Cancer Centre

Residents gathered at Innisfil Beach Park on Thursday night for the cheque presentation to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) on behalf of the Cookstown Car Classic.

On Aug. 13, the inaugural Cookstown Cancer Classic Car and Truck Show took place at the Georgian Steamship Field outside of Cookstown. The show was led by founder Rick Sharples and his management team, the Innisfil Beach Cruisers.

The show brought out more than 500 vehicles, with an attendance of just over 1,000 guests.

"And most importantly we raised over $6,585 for RVH Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre, " said Sharples.

Sharples and members of the Innisfil Beach Cruisers presented the cheque to RVH representatives Michelle Menzies, donor experience officer, and Ryan McLeod, assistant events manager.

Once the festivities were over people circled the venue with hundreds of cars and trucks to check out.

The Innisfil Beach Cruisers gather every Thursday evening where members show their car and truck classics at Innisfil Beach Park.

Sharples will find out soon if he will be able to host the event annually.
