Canada Post has issued a red alert in Barrie — meaning city residents will have no mail delivered today.
The national postal service cites concerns over inclement weather and snow for the interruption. Its website indicates that delivery will resume once it’s considered safe.
Environment Canada issued both an extreme cold warning and a snow squall warning for the Barrie area earlier on Tuesday. The snow-squall warning was lifted after area residents received five to 10 centimetres of snow with the possibility of more.
Canada Post encourages residents to clear the ice from their walkways, stairs and driveways to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors, as well as their mail carriers, when service resumes.
