NEWS RELEASE

SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

*************************
South Simcoe Police were out on a snowy Friday night, conducting Festive R.I.D.E. spotchecks.

A total of 235 vehicles were stopped during the evening. Eight drivers were given roadside screening device tests and all passed.

A portion of the night was spent conducting a joint R.I.D.E. spotcheck with our partners from Barrie Police.

These collaborative events allow us to cover more area and stop those drivers who attempt to evade our scrutiny by taking alternate routes.

South Simcoe Police would like to commend those people we spoke to this evening who were designated drivers.

You make a difference in the lives of your friends and relatives by driving sober and ensuring all arrive home safely.

If you drink, don't drive. Use a designated driver, stay over, take a cab or transit.
