Police seek suspect in SportChek theft

The Barrie Police Service is seeking witnesses to assist with identifying a male suspect following a theft at SportChek, located at 80 Concert Way, in the City of Barrie.

On Tuesday, February 16, 2016, just before 6 p.m.,video surveillance captured the suspect quickly entering SportChek and selecting 10 men’s winter jackets.

He then ran out of the store and fled the area in a vehicle that had been waiting out front.

The vehicle is described as a blue 4-door Honda Civic. A licence plate was obtained, although further investigation found the plates to have been reported stolen out of York Region.

The investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as:

 Suspect:

  • Male, white
  • 5’8”, heavy build
  • Short brown dark hair, chin strap goatee

Clothing:

  • Grey hoodie with neon “The  North Face” logo
  • Black baseball hat
  • Jeans
  • Grey shoes
