Police looking into inappropriate comments to children

ORILLIA – The Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a male party involved in an incident at Regent Park Public School in the City of Orillia.

On Wednesday March 22, 2016 between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., an unidentified male approached 2 children at the school and made inappropriate comments to them.

The male made no motion toward the children and was last seen on the property of Regent Park Public School. 

Similar occurrences have taken place on High Street in April of 2014 and on Simcoe Street in February of 2014. 

The Orillia OPP is currently investigating the incidents but is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the male.

The male is described as:

  • White male, 30 years old, clean shaven with pimples covering his face and shaved brown hair.
  • Male was wearing black boots that folded at the top with black liner, dark jeans with a rip in one of the knees, black puffy coat/vest, black sweater with hood/red lining on the cuffs and a black toque under the hood.
  • May have walked with a limp

The OPP would like to remind parents to speak to their children about talking to strangers and to report any contact of this type to police.
