A 41-year-old Innisfil man has been arrested and charged for multiple drug related offences after being found passed out behind the wheel of his car in a Barrie parking lot.

On Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 7:21 p.m. Barrie Police attended the Cineplex Movie Theater located at 72 Commerce Park Drive, in the City of Barrie, after receiving calls from concerned citizens that two people were passed out in a vehicle parked that was running in the parking lot.

Police were unable to stir the driver who was sleeping slouched over the wheel but was able to eventually raise the female passenger which assisted in waking the male.

Investigation showed that South Simcoe Police had received a call earlier that day in regards to both parties when a Tim Horton’s employee was concerned the female was overdosing on drugs in the washroom.

It was immediately evident the parties had been under the influence of drugs and the male was arrested.

He was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center to be cleared medically before being transported to the Barrie Police Service for further testing.

The male was charged with:

  • Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Drug
  • Possession of Schedule 1, Cocaine X2
  • Possession of Schedule 1, Heroin

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date in the middle of May. The female passenger was released on scene with no charges.
