A person has suffered "life-threatening" injuries in a "major collision" that occurred earlier this afternoon east of Orillia.
Orillia OPP report the two-vehicle crash occured at the intersection of Plum Point Road and Highway 12 in Ramara Township at about 1:30 p.m., Saturday.
"It appears two vehicles were involved, but I can't provide details right now as the collision is currently being investigated," OPP Const. Martin Hill said from the crash scene.
He confirmed, however, that one patient was taken via ambulance to Orillia's Soldiers' Memorial Hospital with "life-threatening injuries."
Hill said it appears the crash was a "T-bone collision," but that will only be confirmed via investigation by the OPP's technical collision investigators, which were not yet on scene as of 2:15 p.m.
"They are on their way and I suspect the road will be closed for at least a couple of hours, but it could be significantly longer," said Hill.
Highway 12 is currently closed in both directions at Plum Point Road.
"Please take alternate routes to avoid the collision as emergency services continue to investigate and tend to injured parties," Hill said.
More details will be provided as they become available.
