Pedestrian in serious condition after being struck by vehicle

Barrie Police were called to 20th Side Road and Big Bay Point Road in the City of Barrie with reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

On Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at 12:52 a.m., police attended the scene where a male was struck by a single vehicle travelling on the 20th Side Road, just south of Big Bay Point Road.  

A 21-year-old Innisfil man was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre with serious, life-threatening injuries.  

He was immediately transferred to a GTA hospital and remains in serious condition.

The 72-year-old driver of the vehicle was not physically injured in the incident and alcohol is not thought to be a factor at this time.

Barrie Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation and updates will be provided as they become available.
