In response to the growing needs of the community, Brookstone Academy, a registered, non-profit private school in Oro-Medonte, announced today that it is opening a new location at Eady Community Hall for students in Grades 4 to 8 and beyond.

The original campus, located at the recently renovated Carley Community Hall, will continue to house students from JK-Grade 3.

Opening for the 2022-23 school year, the new location will provide personalized learning experiences for even more students and families in the area. With the additional two floors of space located in the new building, an alternative program for high school aged students is also being considered.

“Since the launch of Brookstone Academy one year ago, we have never looked back!" says Shelly Long-Bokma, founder and director of Brookstone Academy.

"The Brookstone community has grown immensely in numbers, but it has also grown into a tightly knit, supportive group that resembles more of a big extended family," she said.

"Our parents, students and teachers have had an incredible year experiencing first-hand, the academic gains and sheer joy for learning that grows out of our unique program. Our students are encouraged to discover their interests, personal strengths, and build confidence in their abilities, all within a caring atmosphere of acceptance and trust," said Long-Bokma. "This is especially important right now as we recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our low student to teacher ratios and individualized programming allows us to address the learning needs of our students with precision – whether that be addressing learning gaps, providing enrichment, or supporting the social and emotional concerns that many children are facing today. I am so thankful for our incredible families and teachers who have taken this journey with us, and I look forward to another successful year.”

Brookstone Academy offers innovative programming in a multi-age, multi-grade environment. With low student to teacher ratios, children from JK-8 attending Brookstone Academy benefit from the attention of qualified and experienced teachers who support experiential, project-based, interest-led learning for all types of learners in small groups.

The research-based programming also focuses on the development of the increasingly important 21st Century Learning Skills (Character, Citizenship, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication) – preparing students for success in high school and beyond, while also developing their own personal interests.

“As a parent, I am absolutely in love with Brookstone Academy. The level of professionalism mixed with compassionate, supportive relationships with each student is like no other. Our daughter has gained so much self-esteem and has made new friends that have been like family, and her academics are taking off! She never wants to miss a day of school,” said Sandy F., parent of a Grade 2 student at Brookstone Academy.

Brookstone Academy is now accepting registration for September 2022. Space is limited.

To learn more about Brookstone Academy, residents are invited to attend an open house on Wednesday, June 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. or Saturday, June 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. The open houses will be held at Carley Community Hall located at 396 Warminster Sideroad in Oro-Medonte.
