NEWS RELEASE
THE TOWNSHIP OF ORO-MEDONTE
*************************
Effective today, at 1 p.m., the Fire Chief of the Township of Oro-Medonte has authorized lifting the township-wide burn ban. The burn ban has been lifted due to favourable weather and moisture conditions.

Oro-Medonte residents are reminded that at no cost, new or renewed 2020 Burn Permits are required for open air burning. By obtaining a permit and following provisions, everyone is protecting themselves, First Responders, and our community from needless response.

To obtain your 2020 Burn Permit, and to learn more, including stipulations for open air burning, please visit https://bit.ly/2Lb1gP1.

It is important for residents to appreciate and understand the continued level of risk accompanied with open air burning with rising temperatures, increased winds, and the amount of available dry combustible vegetation. Please take care while enjoying outdoor fires, and refer to the list of frequently asked questions, including safety precautions, prior to having outdoor fires by visiting https://bit.ly/2xPYRpS.

As a reminder, all other restrictions imposed by the township and province are still in place. Residents are reminded to:

  • Practice physical distancing of at least 6 feet
  • Follow gathering restrictions of no more than five (5) people

Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated, by renewing or obtaining your 2020 Burn Permit, as the Township works to ensure the health and safety of the community and township firefighters.
