OPP close Highway 400 northbound at Innisfil Beach Road (update: reopened)

Update 9 a.m.:

Toronto Police say thanks to OPP, South Simcoe Police, Barrie Police and York Regional Police for their efforts during this morning's shooting and subsequent police chase on Highway 400 and Highway 11.

'Man arrested and gun recovered in shooting and carjacking of woman and man," Toronto Police tweeted.

Toronto Police are advising motorists whose vehicles were damaged by the fleeing car to report it to the OPP.

Also call 416-808-3100 and advise Toronto Police is you were involved in this morning's incident.

OPP say Memorial Ave. is also closed at Woodland Dr. in Orillia.

Update 7:53 a.m.:

OPP says Highway 400 northbound from Innisfil Beach Rd. is now open.

Highway 11 northbound at Line 15 and southbound at Highway 12 in Orillia remains closed.

Toronto Police report that the incident started when a woman was shot and a man assaulted around 6:30 a.m.

She was taken to hospital by emergency run.

The suspect fled, allegedly shooting at responding officers. None was injured.. Police pursued the suspect northbound on the the 400 from Norfich and Steeles.

OPP has shut down the northbound lanes of Highway 400 at Innisfil Beach Road.

All on-ramps are also closed going northbound.

Toronto Police report heavy police presence in the area through into Barrie in relation to a shooting in Toronto.

'One person under arrest in shooting/pursuit. Multiple police services involved. K9 searching for firearm. Info to follow,' Toronto Police tweeted at 7:25 a.m.

Barrie Police say they are assisting the OPP with closing off the 400 Highway ramp at Duckworth St.

Highway 11 near Memorial Avenue in Orillia is also closed for the investigation.

OPP are advising motorists on the northbound 400 to detour at 14th and 15th Line.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt called it a 'very dynamic' onging investigation involving the Toronto Police, OPP, Barrie Police and South Simcoe Police.

"There is one person in custody.  The highways should be reopened soon,' said Schmidt. "There are several collisions in that stretch of highway 400 between 89 and highway 11."
