For the 17th and last consecutive Saturday of the summer, Dunlop Street will be closed to motorized transportation. 

Culture Days is here and the Downtown Barrie BIA is pleased to partner with the City of Barrie on this annual initiative with lots planned, this Saturday, Sept. 24, in the heart of Barrie!

Urban Sketching in the Square, 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. in Meridian Place. This week is hosted by local artist Vivian Heliotis from Spare Room Barrie.

Life Drawing with Marshall from Drawing House-  9 a.m. till 1 p.m. in Meridian Place. Live models. All materials provided. All ages & abilities welcome. 

Indian Block Printing with Angela Aujla and MacLaren Art, in front of Inhabit Interiors (120 Dunlop St. East).  From 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. Families are invited to learn the history and purpose of Indian Block Printing by creating an artwork using a variety of softoleum stamping techniques 

Sing and dance to Mama Mia with the Kempenfelt Community Players. 10 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. on the Meridian Stage. KCP will be teaching the music and choreography to Dancing Queen and Waterloo. 

Join Salsa Beats Barrie at Meridian Place for a casino rueda and salsa performance at 1 p.m. followed by a free lesson. No partner required. RSVP for the lesson at [email protected]

Join local artist Monica Loney, who helped create our Maple St Strawberry mural, for Mural in Meridian from 10:00am till 4:00pm, an interactive drop-by event where participants can help create a temporary mural from start to finish, gaining appreciation for artists and their craft. 

Dust off your superhero cape - BPL Comic Fest is back in-person! Taking place at the Barrie Public Library’s downtown branch from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Be sure to check out this free, family-friendly event that showcases pop culture in Barrie with local vendors, cosplayers, artists and more.

West End Family Fun - Located across from the Pratt Homes Theater, enjoy free access to fun interactive games and inflatables. Join us from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for some family fun in the West end!!!

West End Art - Create a harvest pumpkin using oil pastels with local artist Alexandra Gronfors. She'll  guide how to sketch and colour a pumpkin, while teaching about highlighting and shading. Noon till 4 p.m. near Mexhico Restaurant.

The Thunderbird and other stories. From 2 p.m. till 3 p.m. at the MacLaren, Rotary Education Centre. Families will be engaged in story and song as Indigenous storyteller Will Morin brings the Thunderbird and other myths to life. 

Open Air Afternoons takes over the Meridian Place Stage from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with live music! This weekend, Catl. comes to Downtown Barrie for an intense and engaging show full of rock ‘n roll music and good vibes. Their rich and energetic sound will make you want to get up and dance! 

Keep an eye out for stilt walkers and jugglers roaming Dunlop Street for your amusement.

Of course, our local businesses will be open to welcome you to browse and shop at your leisure.  

Don’t fret - Open Air Dunlop will be back soon!! – Downtown Barrie will host two Autumn pop-ups on Saturday, Oct. 8 for Thanksgiving and Saturday, Oct. 29 for Halloween.   Along with a special Noella Festival Open Air Dunlop on Saturday, Nov. 19 for the Santa Claus Parade and Tree Lighting Celebration.  See you soon!
