Ontario reports 927 new COVID cases Friday

Today's report includes 666 recoveries and five new deaths

Public Health Ontario reported 927 new COVID cases today.

The latest updates noted 666 recoveries and five new deaths. 

The Nov. 26 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:

  • 5,807 active cases, up from 5,552 reported yesterday. 
  • 268 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
  • There are 121 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 19 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
  • There are 75 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 11 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID. 
  • 11,238,458 Ontarians (about 75 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated. 89 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
  • Today's new cases include 467 unvaccinated, 27 partially vaccinated, and 378 fully vaccinated people. 55 cases were reported with the vaccination status unknown.  
  • Among the people in the ICU with COVID are 62 unvaccinated, three partially vaccinated, and 10 fully vaccinated individuals. 
  • Those hospitalized, but not in the ICU, with COVID include 89 unvaccinated, nine partially vaccinated, and 47 fully vaccinated individuals.
  • The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is 10.8 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 4.9 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 2.7 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
  • The province reported 33,901 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a three per cent positivity rate.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 129 are from Toronto, 54 are from Peel, 73 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 52 are from York Region.
  • Today's new cases include 51 newborns to four-year-olds, 198 kids ages five to 11, 76 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 271 people between 20 and 39 years old, 214 people between 40 and 59 years old, 107 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 10 people over 79 years old.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 615,197 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 599,399 recoveries and 9,991 deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, 31,223 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 6,147 of them were in intensive care units.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,175 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 32.1 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 12.6 per cent compared to the week of Nov. 10.

Simcoe-Muskoka 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 51 new COVID cases in its report yesterday. 

There are currently 503 active cases in the region. 

Twenty-six people from Simcoe County and two people from Muskoka District are hospitalized with COVID-19.

Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 15,257 cases of COVID-19 with 14,476 of those cases recovered and 278 cases ending in death. 

The region's weekly incidence rate is 77.4 cases per 100,000 for the week beginning Nov. 16, which is up by 29.2 per cent compared to the week beginning Nov. 10.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit weekly incidence rate is 9.1 cases per 100,000, which is down by 42.8 per cent compared to the week of Nov. 10.
