Ontario reports 525 new COVID cases Monday

Today's update also includes 941 recoveries, 24 new hospitalizations, and 15 deaths.

Public Health Ontario has reported 525 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 7).

Today's update also includes 941 new recoveries and 15 deaths. 

The deaths reported today include two people between 40 and 59 years old, six people between 60 and 79 years old, and seven people over 79 years old. 

Since yesterday's update, there have been 24 new hospitalizations, and four more COVID patients admitted to intensive care units.

The June 7 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 7,937 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 8,368 yesterday.
  • 547 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, up from 545 yesterday.
  • There are 497 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (down from 510 yesterday) and 339 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 344  reported yesterday).
  • The province reported 15,177 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 3.6 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 5,724 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 15.4 million tests to date.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 114 are from Toronto, 95 cases are from Peel, 34 are from York Region, and 25 are from Simcoe-Muskoka. 
  • Today's cases include 114 individuals aged 19 and under, 210 people between 20 and 39 years old, 136 people between 40 and 59 years old, 50 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 14 people aged 80 and over.

Vaccines

  • There were 116,829 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday, down from 158,393 doses administered on June 5.
  • 10,109,404 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 1,086,805 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 536,607 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 519,801 recoveries and 8,869 deaths.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,610 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 40.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 27.7 per cent from the prior seven-day period.
