Public Health Ontario has reported 296 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 15).
Today's update also includes 645 new recoveries and 13 deaths.
The deaths reported today include four people between 60 and 79 years old, and nine people over 79 years old.
Since yesterday's update, there have been 54 new hospitalizations, and 11 more COVID patients admitted to intensive care units.
The June 15 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- 5,012 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 5,374 yesterday.
- 433 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, up from 384 yesterday.
- There are 382 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (64 of those people no longer test positive for COVID-19) and 244 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 268 reported yesterday).
- The province reported 17,162 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 2.3 per cent positivity rate.
- There are 14,236 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 15.5 million tests to date.
- Of the new cases reported today, 60 are from Toronto, 62 cases are from Peel, and eight are from Simcoe-Muskoka.
- Today's cases include 80 individuals aged 19 and under, 109 people between 20 and 39 years old, 69 people between 40 and 59 years old, 29 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 9 people aged 80 and over.
Vaccines
- There were 184,989 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday, up from 135,574 doses administered on June 13.
- 11,529,430 doses of vaccine have been administered.
- In total,2,037,751 people have been fully vaccinated.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 540,426 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 526,440 recoveries and 8,974 deaths.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,635.7 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 24.7 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 29.4 per cent from the prior seven-day period.
Simcoe-Muskoka
Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 28 new COVID cases in its first update since Friday.
There are 215 active cases in the region.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,159 cases of COVID-19 with 11,277 of those cases recovered and 246 cases ending in death.
There are 22 people from Simcoe County and one person from Muskoka District hospitalized with COVID-19.
The weekly incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka is 18 cases per 100,000 people between June 5 and 11, which is down by 29.1 per cent compared to May 30 to June 5.
