Ontario reports 176 new COVID cases Saturday

Saturday's report includes 203 new recoveries

Public Health Ontario has reported 176 new COVID-19 cases today in the July 17 daily update.

Today's update includes 203 new recoveries and three deaths. 

The July 17 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 1,373 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 1,403 yesterday.
  • 143 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario.
  • There are 149 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness (of those, 37 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • 112 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness (of those, 26 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • The province reported 21,392 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 0.6 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 6,800 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 16.3 million tests to date.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 548,040 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 537,379 recoveries and 9,288 deaths.

Vaccines

  • There were 169,103 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 17,979,575 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 7,726,829 people have been fully vaccinated.
