Ontario reports 146 new COVID cases Tuesday

Today's update includes 201 recoveries, 12 new hospitalizations, and seven deaths

Public Health Ontario has reported 146 new COVID-19 cases today in the July 13 daily update.

Today's update includes 201 new recoveries and seven deaths. 

The deaths reported today include one person between 40 and 59 years old, three people between 60 and 79 years old, and three people over 79 years old. 

Since yesterday's report, there have been 12 new hospitalizations and four people have been admitted to intensive care units.

The July 13 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 1,548 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 1,610 yesterday.
  • 173 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario.
  • There are 192 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness (of those, 47 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • 123 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness (of those, 28 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • The province reported 17,489 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 0.8 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 14,023 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 16.2 million tests to date.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 36 are from Waterloo, 43 are from Toronto, 13 cases are from Peel, none are from Simcoe-Muskoka, seven are from Grey-Bruce, and one is from York Region.
  • Today's cases include 48 individuals aged 19 and under, 56 people between 20 and 39 years old, 27 people between 40 and 59 years old, 18 people between 60 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old has been removed from the cumulative case count.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 547,409 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 536,603 recoveries and 9,258 deaths.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,682.7 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 8.7 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 12.1 per cent from last week.

Vaccines

  • There were 176,834 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 17,296,458 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 7,124,007 people have been fully vaccinated.

Simcoe-Muskoka

Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported two new COVID cases and one death in its first update since Friday.

There are 50 active cases in the region. 

Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,318 cases of COVID-19 with 11,592 of those cases recovered and 254 cases ending in death.

There are four people from Simcoe County hospitalized with COVID-19 related illnesses.

The weekly incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 4.3 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 14 per cent compared to last week.
