Ontario reporting 309 more COVID-19 cases today, lowest daily total this month

The daily case count hasn’t dipped below 375 since March 31, when the province reported 260 new cases.

The province reported the lowest daily increase in COVID-19 cases this month with 309 more lab-confirmed cases added this morning.

The daily case count hasn’t dipped below 375 since March 31, when the province reported 260 new cases.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Ontario is now 4,347 with 1,624 of those now recovered. There have been 132 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the province.

There are 160 patients on ventilators and another 66 in intensive care units with COVID-19. There are a total of 589 patients hospitalized for the virus in the province.

Ontario’s COVID-19 statistics are reported every day at 10:30 a.m. and reflect case information reported by public health units as of 4 p.m. the previous day.

Of the total number of lab-confirmed cases in the province, 47.3 per cent of the patients have been male and 52.2 per cent female.

There have been 1,537 cases in people between the ages of 40 and 59, 1,167 in people aged 20 to 39, 1,077 in people aged 60-79, 455 in people aged 80 and over and 107 cases in people aged 19 and under.

The province is reporting 46 outbreaks in Ontario long-term care homes. And outbreak is declared after one COVID-19 case is confirmed in a staff member or resident at a long-term care home.

There are 329 cases still awaiting test results and there have been 78,796 people tested for COVID-19 in Ontario, which is about 0.5 per cent of the population.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported there have been 73 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County and Muskoka as of Friday afternoon. The health unit is due to update the local case list later today.
