Ontario confirms 122 new COVID cases, 6 deaths today

The deaths include five individuals who were over 80 and one person between 40 and 60 years old

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 122 new cases of COVID-19 and six more deaths today.

Of the six deaths confirmed today, one person was between 40 and 59 years old, and five people were over the age of 80. 

The province has now reported 2,809 COVID-related deaths in Ontario since March. 

Of the 122 new cases confirmed today, 59 people are between the ages of 20 and 39 and another 31 are between the ages of 40 and 59. 

According to a breakdown of cases provided by the province, 32 of today's cases were reported by Toronto Public Health, 27 by Peel Public Health, 17 by Ottawa Public Health, and 15 by York Region Public Health. 

Since March, the province has confirmed 41,935 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, with 38,023 of those now reported recovered. In total, 2,809 cases have ended in death. 

Currently, there are 1,103 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, including 61 patients in the hospital. Of those, 18 patients are in intensive care units and 12 are on ventilators. 

Since last report, the province has confirmed 31,823 more coronavirus tests have been processed and another 30,512 are awaiting results. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has now reported a total of 695 coronavirus cases in the region, with 663 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 630 cases are now listed as recovered and 37 people have died.

There are 28 cases of COVID in Simcoe County not reported recovered, including 17 in Barrie, three in Bradford, one in New Tecumseth, two in Innisfil, two in Wasaga Beach, two in Essa, and one in Penetanguishene. Two people are hospitalized.
