The province is reporting 111 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, which is the lowest number of cases reported since July 23.
Of today's cases, 47 were individuals between the 20 to 39-years-old age range, but the second-highest occurrence was in the 19 and under age range, with 29 cases reported in that group. There were 22 new cases in the 40 to 59-year-old age group in today's report.
Of the 34 health units in Ontario, 27 reported between zero and five new cases for today's epidemiological summary. Ottawa's health unit reported 25 new cases and Windsor-Essex County reported 22 new cases. Niagara Region had the third-highest increase with 13 new cases included in today's report.
Toronto Public Health reported its lowest daily total in several weeks with just six new cases included in today's epidemiological report. The provincial update includes statistics from regional health units current as of 4:30 p.m. the day before the report. So for today's update, the information is current as of July 27 at 4:30 p.m.
Public Health Ontario confirmed four more deaths related to the coronavirus today. The latest reported fatalities included one person between 40 and 59 years old, two people between 60 and 79 years old, and one person over 80 years old.
In total, the province has reported 38,910 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those, 34,567 are now recovered (88.8 per cent) and 2,768 cases have ended in death (7.1 per cent).
There are 96 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, and they are included in the province's 1,575 remaining active, lab-confirmed cases.
Since last report, the province indicates there were 17,334 COVID tests processed at Ontario labs and there are 12,919 tests awaiting results.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 652 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region to date, with 621 of those reported in Simcoe County.
Thirty-six people have died in Simcoe County and Muskoka and the health unit has reported 582 recoveries. The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 109.7 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
There are 34 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County including four people hospitalized, according to the health unit's July 27 epidemiological report. There are no active cases in the District of Muskoka.
