Ontario confirms 103 new COVID cases today

21 of the province's health units reported zero new cases, according to today's epidemiological summary

Public Health Ontario reported 103 new cases of COVID-19 today, which is 100 fewer than the number of new cases reported on Tuesday (July 21). 

It is one of the lowest daily case reports on record since March, with 102 reported on July 15 and 100 reported on March 25. 

Of today's 103 new cases, 77 are individuals between the ages of 20 and 59 years old. 

Toronto Public Health reported 24 of today's cases, Windsor-Essex reported 23 cases, Peel Public Health reported 15 cases and Ottawa reported 14 new cases, for a total of 76 of today's 103 reported cases. The remaining 27 cases were reported by 10 other health units in the province, and 21 health units reported zero new cases today. 

Public Health Ontario indicated there are zero new deaths of people with COVID-19 to report today, and there were 151 more recoveries added to the epidemiological report. 

The province has confirmed 38,210 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario so far, with 33,963 (88.9 per cent) now reported recovered and 2,755 cases that ended in death. 

There are now 1,492 active cases of the coronavirus in the province, with 154 of those being patients in hospitals. There are 35 patients in intensive care units and 21 on ventilators. 

Ontario reports there were 26,001 tests completed since its last update, and 21,825 tests awaiting results. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 639 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region to date, with 608 of those reported in Simcoe County. 

Thirty-six people have died in Simcoe County and Muskoka and the health unit has reported 566 recoveries. The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 107.5 cases per 100,000 people in the population. 

There are 36 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County including three people hospitalized, according to the health unit's July 22 epidemiological report.
