Barrie boy plans fundraising run from Barrie to Ottawa

With his fellow Codrington Public School students cheering him on, Zach Hofer formally launched his fundraising campaign in his school gym.

The 12-year-old student plans to run from Barrie to Ottawa this summer to help raise money and awareness for the new Child and Youth Mental Health Program at RVH, due to open this fall.

Zach was joined on stage at by his mom Shelley, Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman, Janice Skot, RVH President and CEO, David McCullough, chair RVH Foundation,  Peter Beacock, Trustee, Simcoe County District School Board, and Principal Peter Mclean.

His many sponsors were in the crowd and after the indoor kudos and pep rally, students went outside in the pouring rain for a photo op, a run around the school grounds after which a soaking wet Zach posed in front of the new RV donated to him for his marathon.
