The City of Barrie is accepting nominations for the 10th annual Barrie Arts Awards, presented by TD. In addition to the six award categories, nominations are also being accepted for a new Poet Laureate. Selected every four years, Barrie’s Poet Laureate acts as a literary ambassador and represents the city in poetry.
Nominations for the Barrie Arts Awards are being accepted for the following categories:
- Artist without Barriers
- Business Champion
- Contribution to the Community
- Emerging Artist
- Excellence in the Arts
- Most Promising Youth
Nominations must be submitted to the Creative Economy Department by Monday, Oct. 29 at 4:30 p.m. Each award winner will be invited to accept their handcrafted award statuette, created by local artist Jeanette Luchese at a gala evening held at the Barrie Country Club on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
The Barrie Arts Awards acknowledge the vibrancy that the arts bring to Barrie and are an opportunity to show appreciation for talented individuals and generous supporters of the arts.
