New farmers' market coming to Oro-Medonte starting on Canada Day

Market will take place every Thursday from July 1 through October at the Oro Fairgrounds

The Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce and the Oro Agricultural Society are happy to announce the launch of a new Farmers' Market in Oro-Medonte.

The new initiative is generating a great deal of enthusiasm from around the township.

Ed Campbell of the Oro Agricultural society stated: “We are excited for our partnership with the Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce for the new Oro-Medonte Farmers Market, at the Oro World’s Fairgrounds. As a member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years, we are proud of this new venture and partnership, to help develop and grow agricultural commerce and education in the region."

Mayor Harry Hughes echoed this excitement saying, “I am extremely pleased to see the initiative taken by the Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Oro World’s Fair Board to feature a safe, outdoor, shop local event.”

The Oro-Medonte Farmers' Market will take place every Thursday from July 1 through October, at the Oro Fairgrounds, starting with a special Canada Day Market on July 1 that features extended hours from noon until 8 p.m.

The market will feature locally grown produce and farm products while supporting local farmers and the community.  

“We are excited to hold a Farmers Market for the Summer thru to Fall” states Sylvia Stark, Executive Director of the Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce, “The local vendors consist of local growers, farmers, delicious baked goods, preserves, countless fresh foods, crafters, and artisans.  The atmosphere will bring people together to celebrate, support and shop local while social mingling. A Big Thank You to everyone involved to help make this happen, the support we have received from the community has been wonderful.”
