New commander takes over Canadian Forces Base Borden

Canadian Forces Base Borden has a new leader. Colonel Liam McGarry was sworn in as the new commander this morning, taking the reins from Brigadier-General Carl Doyon, who was commander since August 2013.

Colonel Liam McGarry was sworn in as the new commander this morning, taking the reins from Brigadier-General Carl Doyon, who was commander since August 2013.

Chief Warrant Officer Michael Charette was also sworn into a new position of base chief warrant officer, replacing Chief Warrant Officer Gilles Godbout.

The ceremony marked the end of a month-long celebration for CFB Borden's centennial year. More than two million people have trained at Canada's largest military training base since 1916.
