The Barrie Navy League Cadets, NLCC #24 Chambly, made history this past weekend at the Provincial Competitions in Kingston by achieving a 100 per cent perfect score in the Semaphore Competition to capture the gold medal. It was the first time a perfect score has ever been achieved in Provincial Competitions. Semaphore is the sending and receiving of messages using signal flags. This is the second year in a row that the Semaphore Team made up of, PO1 Kyra Chisholm, LC Jack Mullen, OC Emma Barnes, OC Christ Keumoe, and CP02 Jack Anderson have won the gold medal at Provincial Competitions.

Chambly Cadets also took home a second place medal in Seamanship, and fourth place finish in Drill Team. All of these accomplishments are particularly noteworthy because Chambly finished in the top 4 out of 33 Corps in all of Ontario in three out of the four activities in the competition.

The objectives of “The Navy League Cadet Corps" are to give young girls and boys (aged between 9 and 12) the opportunity to develop good mental, moral and physical training, to develop patriotism, good citizenship, a sense of duty, discipline, self-respect, and to respect others, in a Naval environment suited for young people.
