SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

Three Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) students represented the province of Ontario at the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) in Edmonton last week.
Jessica St. Amand and Liam Stone from Innisdale Secondary School brought home a silver medal in 2D Character Animation.
“Jessica and Liam represented our province and county with their technological skills, artistic talent, hard work ethic and competitive yet gracious attitude. I am so proud of them,” said Chris Zimmermann, communications technology teacher at Innisdale Secondary School.
Matt Jack from Barrie North Collegiate Institute represented the SCDSB and the province in Auto Collision Repair. Jack is in Grade 11 and has already set his sights on representing Ontario in next year’s national competition.
“The Skills Canada National Competition is an opportunity for our students to showcase the skills they’ve developed in our skilled trades and technology programs,” says Steve Blake, director of education. “We’re proud of their successes and of the hard work and dedication they have shown.”
The event promotes skilled trade and technology careers to youth by hosting skilled trades competitions for over 500 students from across Canada in more than 40 contest areas.
