NEWS RELEASE
ANDREA KHANJIN, MPP FOR BARRIE-INNISFIL

To date, over 10 million vaccine doses have been administered, with over 1 million Ontarians fully vaccinated! With sufficient vaccine supply, and the majority of Ontarians having already received their first dose; it is anticipated that Barrie and Innisfil residents will benefit from a two-dose summer.

Every dose administered brings us closer to ending the pandemic and the cautious and gradual lifting of public health measures as part of the Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen.

Starting yesterday, individuals turning 70 and over in 2021 as well as individuals who received their first dose of an mRNA (Pfizer and Moderna) vaccine on or before April 18 are eligible to book their vaccine appointment sooner through the provincial booking system and call centre in addition to participating pharmacies and primary care settings.

“With an increase in pharmacies offering both Moderna and Pfizer in our area, and more people getting their first and second doses, it is hopeful that the downward trend in cases will continue and allow us to have a more normal summer,” said Andrea Khanjin, MPP for Barrie Innisfil.

“However, it is critical that we do not let our guard down too early and remain vigilant as unfortunately our borders still remain open, which continues to pose the risk of an increase in dangerous variants entering our local community.”
