Pamela Horan and Diane Mason of Alliston have that “6/49 feeling” after winning a Lotto 6/49 second prize worth $231,305.10 in the Feb. 1, 2020 draw.

The mother and daughter matched five of six numbers plus the bonus number to win the prize.

“It’s amazing how this came about because we decided on a whim to stop and buy a ticket on our way home one day,” said Diane while the two were at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim their prize. They discovered their win while using the OLG Lottery App to check their ticket.

“Pam nearly dropped the phone and said, ‘Oh my gosh, Mom, we just won $230,000!’” Diane, a retiree and Pam, a retail assistant manager, plan to enjoy being debt free and will share their windfall with family.

“The gratitude that we have for sharing this moment together is overwhelming,” Diane concluded.

Lotto 6/49 players in Ontario have won over $12 billion in prizes since 1982, including 1,388 jackpot wins and 1,409 guaranteed $1 million prize draws.

Lotto 6/49 is $3 per play and draws take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on Yonge Street in East Gwillimbury.
