Morning rollover on Highway 400 closed southbound lanes

One woman was taken to hospital after her vehicle flipped; she had to be extricated by firefighters

One person was rushed to hospital this morning after a vehicle rollover on Highway 400 in Barrie.

Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle collison in the southbound lanes, north of Mapleview Drive, at 9:15 a.m., Friday.

Firefighters had to extricate one woman from an overturned vehicle.

Ontario Provincial Police Const. Lauren Ball told BarrieToday that the woman was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Her vehicle had flipped over, so emergency personnel couldn't get her doors open and she did need to be extracted, but her injuries seem minimal, thankfully," Ball said.

Southbound lanes are now open, but had been closed while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
