Another Barrie grocery store is prepping to sell beer, cider and in the case of the south end Zehrs, wine as well.

"Supposed to be set to go on Friday. The big launch is on Saturday," said Michelle Barby, Assistant Store Manager.

"We have our Smart Serves ready to go, complying with everything the Liquor Board wants us to."

Seventy-six new independent and large grocery stores in communities across Ontario were authorized to sell beer and cider as of July 1.  This was in addition to the 130 grocery stores across the province currently authorized to sell beer and cider - 70 of which can also sell wine.

The other Barrie stores tapped to sell alcohol are Loblaws and the Walmart Superstore on Bayfield St. and the Walmart Superstore  on Mapleview Dr.
