Mike Holmes adds star power to Timber Block Homes (9 photos)

Custom home builder pitches to Innisfil with Canuck celeb

There was valet parking and a golf cart to transport reporters and guests to the Timber Block Homes news conference.

The event, held Saturday in a wooded area of Innisfil near Innisfil Beach Road and Highway 400, attracted a packed house.

The 'VIP' event was to announce a three-year partnership with an internationally known, Canadian star of home building and renovation television.

Mike Holmes of the hit TV series Holmes on Holmes, Holmes Inspection and Holmes Makes It Right thrilled spectators with his appearance.

"Who wants me to go to their house," Holmes joked, to hearty laughter from the audience.

Holmes has added his Holmes Approved Program to Timber Block Homes, a company that specializes in wooden homes with a patented panelized building system.

"It's not about the eye candy," said Holmes. "The icing on the cake is only a look. It's about the cake. It's about how the cake tastes. It's about how it was made, so it's not dry and falling apart.  It isn't about what you see. It's what you don't see. It's how it was put together."

"It's a third party verification that says he did it right," said Michel Mathon, Timber Block’s president and CEO who presented Holmes with a symbolic key to the company's homes and factory.

"This association will be extremely promising due to the positioning of this personality with our brand image. Besides this aspect, it was really important for Timber Block to partner up with someone that is aligned with our corporate values.  In this case, we could not have made a better choice" said Mathon.

By becoming a "Holmes Approved Homes" certified builder, the company says Timber Block will be part of a unique inspection and certification program built by Mike Holmes for builders who "demonstrate quality craftsmanship and dedication to building right."

Timber Block has over 30 years of residential construction experience with state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible technology.

The company pledges rapid assembly with a crew of only about 4 to 5 workers required for construction and homes that can be built in about four and a half hours.

MP John Brassard was invited to the event.

"They're certainly a niche to what they do. I like the aspect of environmental sustainability. I'm looking forward to seeing them grow in Innisifil and across the country," said Brassard.

Timber Block is building the golf club at Friday Harbour, according to Innisfil's Mayor Gord Wauchope who toured the model home on site.

"I'd love to to have a home like that myself. Outstanding. A little out of my price range," said Wauchope.

"A large home without the land was $650,000. They're up in the millions."
