The Midhurst Autumnfest fall fair, which took place Saturday, Sept. 29, was a huge success.

The rain stayed away for the most part, and as a result, a great time was had by all.

The fair, which is an annual tradition in the community of Midhurst, took place at the Midhurst Community Park on Doran Road for its 49th year. The park was filled with almost 40 vendors, numerous games and contests, such as a tug-o-war and egg toss, and a barbecue, hosted by the Springwater Vespra Lions Club.

Pizza was also provided by a nearby pizza restaurant.

Remarks were given by Springwater Mayor Bill French. French emphasized his thanks in everyone who attended, saying that they are the reason that the fair can be run year-after-year.

Councillor Jack Hanna sent his regrets for his absence. The fair was planned by veteran event planner Lori Hanna, as well as newcomers Hale Mahon, AJ Kapty, and Ryan Khosrovaneh.

In previous years, money raised at the fair was donated to the building of the new Midhurst Pavilion, and it is understood that 45 per cent of funding for the pavilion came from funds raised by Midhurst Autumnfest.

Next year, the fair is anticipated to take place at this new pavilion, which boasts a power supply, a helpful addition to the fair.

The Midhurst Autumnfest Committee would like to thank the many attendees, as well as the student volunteers who, without their help, the fair would not be able to run.
