On Saturday, July 21, 2018 just after 4 p.m., police attended an address on Clapperton Street in the city of Barrie, after the property manager contacted Barrie police after he became concerned with the well-being of one of his tenants.

Police attended the address and found three people inside, none of which were the tenant and no one on scene could provide police with a reasonable answer to where the male was.

The investigation led officers back to the property manager, and thus the tenant, who advised he had been assaulted and physically removed from his apartment and that no one should be inside his residence.

Officers returned to the apartment and began removing the unwanted parties. At this time officers located a fourth person locked in the washroom who reported being assaulted, threatened and robbed.

Interviews were conducted with all parties on scene, however one male had fled previously. It was determined the he was the male responsible for the (alleged) criminal offences and he was located a short distance away and arrested.

The 40-year-old Barrie male was charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Weapons dangerous
  • Forcible confinement
  • Utter threats
  • Breach probation x2

He was held for a bail hearing to answer to his charges. All injuries sustained by the victim were considered minor and no medical treatment was required.
