Man bursts through plate-glass window at downtown business

'There was an issue in the store and the person left by way of the front window,' says police official

Police surrounded a downtown business on Friday afternoon after reports came in of a man breaking through a plate-glass window.

At about 4:20 p.m., a man was seen going through a window at Nourish Brew and Blend on Maple Avenue in downtown Barrie.

Once the man had shattered the window with his fists, he climbed through and jumped out onto Maple Avenue.

The man was yelling as he proceeded to run across Dunlop Street toward the waterfront.

“It certainly looks like a case of someone dealing with a personal crisis,” Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon.

“There was an issue in the store and the person left by way of the front window," he added.

Police did not say what triggered the events that took place.

There is no word on whether any charges have been laid.
