Man arrested in knife-related incident at Barrie apartment building

Bracebridge man is facing serious charges after person was injured and sent to hospital, Barrie Police say

A 20-year-old was arrested at an east-end apartment complex Wednesday night after an incident involving a knife.

Barrie Police arrested the Bracebridge man at a Duckworth Street apartment after getting reports of a person injured at the location.

The person who sustained injuries was taken to hospital and later released.

Barrie Police’s Peter Leon told BarrieToday the man was arrested without incident and later released with a court date.

“Barrie Police responded to the call with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit and K-9 Unit shortly after 8 p.m and were able to apprehend the suspect,” said Leon. “He was released and will appear in court Sept. 16.”

The accused is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
