INNISFIL IDEALAB AND LIBRARY
***********************
INNISFIL - Discover the creative people, projects and spaces that make our community extraordinary with a celebration of the ‘Maker Spirit’! The Innisfil ideaLAB and Library will be hosting our third annual MakerFest on Saturday, June 17, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Lakeshore Branch (967 Innisfil Beach Rd.) Free for both makers to exhibit, and for the public to attend, this is bound to be a memorable day of epic proportions, bringing together educators, entrepreneurs, artists and engineers as they unveil their latest creations, provide interactive activities and inspire curious onlookers.
“Our Library and ideaLAB offers a remarkable environment – unlike any other public library and unlike any other place in the Innisfil community,” said Megan Legg, manager of programming. “Being able to offer an event like this provides a platform for the local Maker community to connect with each other and share their creations with the rest of the community.”
This year’s festival will showcase:
- Bike Painting Station - Decorate a bike with funky colours. Once decorated, we are going to release the bikes to the wilds of Innisfil for anyone to borrow and ride throughout the summer, free of charge.
- New Life Robotics - Bringing education and robotics together by introducing robotics technology and skills to children of all ages in the education system.
- Metal Keys Design - Watch the different stages of how metal clay is transformed into jewellery. Visitors will be able to use textures and cutters on air dry clay to make a simple pendant to bring home.
- Live music - Musical performance by The Fitzees.
- Family activities and workshops – Something for the whole family.
- Food - The Hob Mobile Pizza Oven serving delicious homemade pizza.
