Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MP Doug Shipley hosted a reception to acknowledge residents who contributed to his 2023 annual calendar.
In 2022 residents of Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte were encouraged to share their original artwork including paintings, sketches, and photographs that captured the mood and beauty of our region, for consideration in the 2023 annual calendar. Successful submissions were showcased, month by month, in the annual calendar, which is delivered to thousands of residents in Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte.
On Wednesday, March 15, MP Shipley hosted an intimate reception for contributors and their guests to celebrate the local talent that was showcased in the 2023 calendar. Thank you to the following people who contributed their original photographs and paintings for the 2023 calendar: Glenn LaMarche, Deb Grise, Sheila Romard, Margaret Ferraro, Julia Dezoete, Connie Smith, Susan Young, Cathy Volpe, Kelly Vaillancourt, Vicki Nicholls, Sheila Craig, Bregitte Rugman and Lynda Rotonen.
“Encouraging submissions from local professional or amateur artists provided a great opportunity to showcase the raw beauty that can be found in every corner of our region,” said MP Doug Shipley. “Each year I hear from residents who rely on this calendar to record appointments, meetings, and important dates. My staff and I have received many compliments on the 2023 calendar and the pictures and paintings that are featured each month.”
Contributors were honoured at an intimate reception, hosted at the MacLaren Art Centre, Wednesday, March 15.
With such a successful outcome for the 2023 calendar MP Shipley and his team are accepting submissions for the upcoming 2024 calendar and encourage residents to contribute their photos, paintings and sketches featuring Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte.
