GEORGIAN COLLEGE

*************************
Starting Wednesday, November 4, Georgian College students and staff in the Communicative Disorders Assistant program and the Harmonize for Speech, Hearing and Language Clinic will offer a Living with Hearing Loss workshop series for seniors living with hearing aids.

The four-part workshop series takes place on Wednesdays between November 4 and 25 from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. in the Sadlon Centre for Health and Wellness at the Barrie Campus [room M233].

The classes will cover such topics as how to read lips, understanding audiograms, advocacy, communicating more effectively in group settings and assistive listening devices for TV and phone.

“The Living with Hearing Loss workshop series is designed to help seniors with hearing aids become better communicators so they can live fuller and more social lives,” says Kristene Brandt, Harmonize for Speech, Hearing and Language Clinic. “Seniors often tell me they would like to communicate more effectively in group settings and learn about new technology. The classes will cover all of this, and much more.”

Cost is $25 for all four classes, but spouses and/or significant others can attend for no additional cost.

Metered parking is available for $1.25 per hour.

The campus is wheelchair accessible.

For more information or to register, contact Kristene Brandt at 705.722.1561 or [email protected].
