Bryon McLellan, Gord Stanich and Phil Neale, of the Barrie Lions Club, collect donations for the Barrie Food Bank last year. The club will be at the FreshCo store on Bayfield Street on Saturday, Sept. 30 for this year's food drive.

Members of the Barrie Lions Club will be on hand at the FreshCo grocery store at 409 Bayfield St., in Barrie, this weekend as they conduct their annual food drive in support of the Barrie Food Bank.

Food and monetary donations will be collected at the location on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

According to Phil Neale, a member of the club taking part in the event, last year’s effort garnered approximately 500 pounds of food along with $600 in donations.

“The food bank is a natural non-profit and important charity that we can support, especially in these times, to give back to the community,” Neale told BarrieToday.

Located on Anne Street, the Barrie Food Bank is a non-profit organization that collects nutritious food along with culturally appropriate food, and redistributes it to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

They are located in Unit 2 at 42 Anne St. S., in Barrie.
