NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF INNISFIL

INNISFIL - The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has placed beaches 2, 3, 4 and 5 at Innisfil Beach Park under a swim advisory. The advisory for Leonard’s Beach, which was put in place on July 19, is now lifted.

An advisory is a warning to swimmers, but it is not a beach closure. During an advisory, a beach is posted with warning signs when the water contains levels of bacteria that indicate there may be an increased risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose and throat infections and stomach disorders.

You may still choose to swim during an advisory but it may be best to avoid swallowing the water, or dunking your head underwater.

Testing is done at least weekly by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, and the results are listed on their website: http://www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/Topics/SafeWater/BeachWater/BeachPostings.
