"Who's In Charge" of Artificial Intelligence?

Seniors will seek out the answer.

COVID-19 has caused a lot of organizations to pivot, and Third Age Learning Lakehead is among them. TALL offers a five part lecture series on Zoom starting Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The series, entitled Who's In Charge?: Living with Artificial Intelligence will see internationally-renowned speakers zooming in from across North America, opening up a conversation about the nature of artificial intelligence, and the perils and possibilities now and into the future.

"We weren't sure about how Third Age Learners would respond to the zoom lectures, but our May series went really well and we're excited to continue with this really important topic," said Linda Rodenburg, Lakehead's director of community engagement and lifelong learning. "We know that, particularly in this time when we can't gather, we need to work even harder to offer lifelong learning opportunities that create a sense of community."

The series will include Forbes writer and WebIPO founder Tom Taulli, author of Artificial Intelligence Basics: A Non-Technical Introduction (2019), as well as Harvard professor Dr. Vikram Mansharamani, author of Think for Yourself: Restoring Common Sense in an Age of Experts and Artificial Intelligence (2020) and BOOMBUSTOLOGY: Spotting Financial Bubbles Before They Burst (2011).

For those unfamiliar with Zoom, Lakehead will offer one-on-one tech support in advance of the first workshop. Email [email protected] for more information.  And, as always, lectures will be taped and made available for those who can’t attend a particular session in real time.

Visit the Third Age Learning Lakehead website for more information and to register.
