DRESS FOR SUCCESS ORILLIA AND BARRIE

Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie has raised $13,525 with its Giving Tuesday event held on Dec. 1. The money will go toward its work supporting local women’s employment and economic independence.
The organization hosted a live concert on its Facebook page on Dec. 1, featuring acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter Jerry Leger. As Leger performed live from his apartment in Toronto, viewers donated via the Facebook fundraiser, e-transfer, and on charity website CanadaHelps. Over 300 people enjoyed the livestreamed show.
Giving Tuesday was the kickoff of Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie’s year-end campaign with a goal of $20,000. It is already only $6,400 from reaching that goal and expects to reach it by Dec. 31.
If anyone would like to celebrate the holiday season by making a donation, they can do so on the Facebook fundraiser page, on CanadaHelps or by e-transfer to [email protected].
The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
2020 has been an especially difficult year for women’s employment. Between February and October this year, 20,600 Canadian women fell out of the labour force while nearly 68,000 men joined. Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie is committed to providing women who are striving to enter or re-enter the workforce with the support they need to do so.
