MIDLAND – In addition to the annual game at the Barrie Molson Centre on August 11, this year, residents of Midland will get to experience a piece of the Hockey Night in Simcoe County action when North Simcoe faces off against South Simcoe at the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre on August 10.

This game will feature local EMS workers and community professionals, politicians, and NHL alumni in a charitable hockey game with proceeds going towards Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland, Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Barrie’s Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and the Barrie Colts Community Fund.

The North Simcoe team includes: Simcoe County Warden Gerry Marshall, Orillia Mayor Steve Clarke, Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MP Alex Nuttall, Simcoe North MPP Patrick Brown, retired NHL coach Dan Maloney, Kool FM announcer Darryl Mabley, and local physician Jeff Goliski.

The South Simcoe team includes: Barrie-Innisfil MP John Brassard, firefighter Kevin White, Innisfil Mayor Gord Wauchope, NHL Hall of Famer and the head coach of the Barrie Colts Dale Hawerchuk, and Ontario Provincial Police Association President Rob Jamieson.

The game will take place at 7:30 p.m. with reception to follow. Seating is limited so you are encouraged to buy your tickets early.

Tickets can be purchased on the Hockey Night in Simcoe County website.

“This bonus game is one of the many ways that we are making Hockey Night in Simcoe County bigger and better than ever before,” said the event’s host Patrick Brown.

“Hockey Night  has grown so much over the course of my nine year involvement, which is why I am so excited to expand the event to other hospitals and communities in Simcoe County. I can’t wait to see everyone out at the game in Midland!”
