The Town of Innisfil has launched an exciting program to encourage residents to help one another with snow removal – and recognize them as well.

The new Snow Angels program recognizes that it is often a struggle for people to clear their driveway or walkway for a variety of reasons, and that it takes a community to make sure everyone has a safe path to get out the door.

“Snow Angels is essentially about neighbours working together and looking out for each other – something we encourage throughout the year,” said Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin. “This will help build a better community and is part of that small-town charm that people love about Innisfil.”

The program works by giving residents the opportunity to nominate someone else who has helped out with clearing snow and/or ice. Here’s how it works:

  • Go online to nominate someone who has helped you, a neighbour or someone else by clearing their driveway and/or walkway of snow and/or ice.
  • When you nominate someone the Town of Innisfil will provide you with a Town of Innisfil Snow Angel Certificate of Appreciation, a toque and a Tim Horton’s gift card for you to give to that snow angel.
  • As an added bonus, all snow angels will also be entered into a monthly draw to win a Town of Innisfil swag bag.

Volunteers – or snow angels – must provide their own shovel; students can apply their Snow Angels hours towards the high school volunteer requirement. Proper shoveling techniques and preventative back exercises are encouraged as the Town of Innisfil is not responsible for any injuries.

More information about the program is available online.
