Marine officers are out responding to calls for assistance from other boaters as well as checking for compliance with equipment regulations.

Officers are still finding boaters on Lake Simcoe that do not have a personal floatation device (PFD) aboard their vessel.

On Sunday, officers conducting a random equipment check on a kayak operated by a 54-year-old Innisfil man, and found the man did not have any safety equipment nor a PFD.

The man was escorted off the lake and given $235 fine.

Officers have a zero tolerance policy for anyone not wearing a PFD. Please make sure you have all safety equipment on board and wear your PFD at all times on the water.
