Hospice Simcoe’s Hike for Hospice returns to Barrie on May 7.

The annual event allows families and friends to gather and remember loved ones, celebrate friendships, and help raise money to support Hospice Simcoe’s 10-bed residence and community bereavement programs.

Every year, the local organization welcomes participants to gather pledges and join them at Sunnidale Park in Barrie to walk with family, friends, and co-workers in support of Hospice Simcoe.

Their fundraising goal this year is $100,000.

This year, Hospice Simcoe is also celebrating 35 years of providing hospice palliative care to the community, and they do so at no cost to those we serve. They rely on the community for more than 50 per cent of their operating budget, or approximately $1.3 million annually, and are "very grateful for everyone’s support."

The 2023 presenting sponsor is Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services, while additional hike sponsors include Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices, Innisfil Funeral Home, Kiwanis Club of Barrie, Abram’s Service Centre, CIBC Asset Management, Auto Trim Design & Sign, Dalston General Store, Deluxe Taxi, Jeff White Group, Jeff’s Junk, Parker Coulter Realty Brokerage, Plumbtech Plumbing Inc., Mortgage Sense, Extend Communications Inc., Mason Miller Accounting & Taxation, and the Peggy Hill Group.
