High-speed crash ends in string of charges

Police say there were some inaccurate Facebook posts floating around about the incident

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH - At approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), received information of a possible Impaired Driver, located in a parking lot on Young Street in Alliston, Town of New Tecumseth.

Officers arrived moments later and located the silver coloured; two door Honda, travelling along Young Street. After several attempts to evade police, the vehicle then turned south on 8th Avenue.

The vehicle continued southbound on 8th Avenue at a high rate of speed where it collided with a barricade in the area of Ernest Cumberland Elementary School.

The driver, and sole occupant, of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital to be assessed and was later released into police custody.

Wayne Warren, age 50, of Everett, Ontario, has been charged with Impaired Driving, Flight from Police, Drive While Disqualified, Fail to Comply with a Recognizance and Fail to comply with a Probation.

During the course of this investigation, there were several false reports that were made on Facebook posts. This information was not disseminated by police, and was not an accurate reflection of the events.
