The David Busby Centre hosts annual Street Light Gala on Nov. 2, 2018 celebrating 25 years of service.
The David Busby Centre is one of the lead organizations participating in actively bringing those solutions based and housing first best practices to our community. Housing with support is the only solution to homelessness.
Our mission is to create the shortest path from homelessness to permanent safe housing.
The gala will be held at the Barrie Golf and Country Club in Barrie, Ont. The evening’s program will include with a three-course dinner reception, followed by a performance by Bravado! a show tune choir, the David Busby Centre Community Awards presentation, and a silent and live auction. All programs and services offered through the David Busby Centre are designed in partnership with other community agencies and housing providers to facilitate creating the shortest path from homelessness to safe, affordable, and sustainable housing in lives of many. We believe that all people have value and have a right to a home.
After 20 years in service, Barrie Out of the Cold (BOOTC) has made the collective decision to dissolve our organization and to pass this important community service of emergency group lodging to the David Busby Centre.
In order to take on the added role of emergency group lodging, renovations needed to happen at the Busby Centre in order to meet the new city requirements and to ensure safety measures are in place. Renovations are well underway at the Busby Centre permanent location at 88 Mulcaster St., Barrie.
